Richard Bruce-Kelly is co-founder and Creative Director at InDzine. With over 12 years of experience in the creative industry, Richard has great knowledge and creative skill across all media.
Richard graduated from Staffordshire University in 1994 with a First Class Honours Degree in Product Design (BA) and a First Class Honours Degree in Computer Aided Design (BA). While at university Richard won several design awards and competitions such as the SmithKline Beecham 1992 FMCG Design Competition and an honorary mention in the Goldstar (now LG Electronics) Annual Design Competition. In his final degree year, Richard was also chosen to showcase his designs and talent at the United Kingdom 1994 New Designers Exhibition.
On graduating Richard’s first creative role was part of the in-house design team for high street retailer Sketchley/SupaSnaps Retail. Based in Maidenhead, he was responsible for the creation of all point of sale (POS), packaging, promotions and literature for their 300 retail stores. In 1995 he was promoted to the role of Senior Designer for the group.
In 1996 Richard joined global manufacturer, Black and Decker as Senior European Packaging Designer. Based at their European head office in London, he was responsible for the creation and implementation of all accessories packaging across Europe. It was here that Richard gained understanding and practical experience of working on pan European and global projects, managing both the creative and logistical side of production.
Richard’s expertise developed further when he joined Taiwanese scanner and computer manufacturer, ‘Umax’ in 1998. His role was to form a European in-house design team responsible for the creation of all advertising, packaging, POS, exhibitions and corporate literature. During this time Richard became involved in Internet design and programming by implementing the companies’ first website.
Nine years ago Richard made the move from working for corporate in-house design teams to an agency environment. He began working at Goode International as their Creative Director. This gave Richard the opportunity to utilise all his creative talents with different media such as outdoor advertising, online and exhibitions. He worked with several FMCG companies in different market sectors. Whilst at Goode International, Richard began working with Oregon Scientific UK on key packaging projects. In 2000 Richard joined Glow Productions and maintained the Oregon Scientific account as he began their first content managed website.
InDzine’s clients now benefit from Richard’s vast experience within the corporate environment and more recently at agency level. His has a complete understanding of how international organisations operate and it is these skills that enable him to demonstrate how an agency can work seamlessly with in-house resources.
Richard’s outstanding design skills are undisputed. He demonstrates his creative flair with every project he undertakes. Whether he's designing for a project aimed at children aged 5, teenagers, a female secretary or a Managing Director in a B2B environment, he always produces a design that creates excitement and impact. His ability to change his creative approach for different market segments and then tailor them for online and offline tools makes Richard well placed to lead a team who are ‘Creating Success’.
