Design and Develop TRL Websites
Richard Brown, Anna Green, John White
TRL is the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory. TRL is an internationally recognised centre of excellence providing world class research, consultancy, product testing covering all aspects of transport.
InDzine has been working with TRL for over 10 years.
InDzine were first asked to prepare a proposal for the redesign and redevelopment of the TRL website 8 years ago. The previous website was a hardcoded, template driven site with very little flexibility for change and without considerations for SEO.
InDzine won the tender and began working with TRL back in 2004 on a brand new website, a website that TRL could be proud of. The new site included features such as ecommerce giving TRL the ability to sell reports, images and events. It was driven by a CMS system which was a new way of working for TRL in terms of generating and managing site content.
Since launching the new and improved website, InDzine has continued to work with TRL to develop the site further adding more functionality each time and refreshing each design.
The summer of 2012 saw the kick off of the latest redesign and development under a new CMS system. The newest version of the site is scheduled to go live by June 2013. This is a full upgrade of the entire site where changes to design, structure and management have all been considerations.
Mary Treen, Marketing Communications Manager at TRL commented on the project, “We are excited about the next phase of development for the TRL website. TRL as an organisation span so many different specialist areas and it is important for us to find the right way to showcase our offering. InDzine’s support and experience in helping us think through our structure has proved invaluable to us. They understand our business and our requirements well. The advice and support we receive is exemplary. We’re looking forward to the next go live”
